Motorsport Icon meets JDM Icon.

As an Automotive Photographer, it is sometimes hard to set yourself apart from the rest of the crowd. Attending shows, race weekends and coffee runs allows for some opportunity to network and create content for social media, but it isn’t necessarily unique.

After having some time away from social media, I returned with one goal. Create work that I can look back on, and enjoy the memories in 50 years time. That’s why when a certain Honda NSX, formerly owned by the late Ayrton Senna, came to market, I reached out to the seller to enquire about imaging the car. The owner, Robert, was more than happy for me to image the car but it was a race against time, as it was scheduled to leave the country soon to be delivered to the new owner.

6 hours of driving each way, but circling back to my former point, it was, is and always will be a memory that I will never forget. Having arrived at the location the car was stored at, Robert showed us the car as well as the Black NSX, also formerly owned by Senna.

The location was idillic, perfect for imaging any vehicle, nevermind one with such pure heritage. As I was born in the late 90’s, driving a car without power-steering was, an experience to say the least. However, to be able to say I have sat in, driven and photographed a car that was once driven by (arguably) the Greatest Formula 1 Driver in history, is a ’subtle flex’ that I will be bragging about for a long time.

The car just emanates this aura, almost a glow, as if the spirit of its former jockey still lives within it, it is a truly special piece of automotive history.

My one regret however, is that I didn’t wear brown loafers and white socks!
