Masters Historic: A View into the Past

2024 has been a Photographic Journey that i have truly loved. Rekindling my deep interest in motorsport imagery has allowed me to push myself and experiment with new techniques, in order to further my skillset in the field. One of the key things I set out in my yearly goals, was to push for more variety, and how better to achieve that than the Masters Historic at Donington Park.

Donington is my favourite circuit in the UK as a spectator, with its scenery, history and opportunity flooding through the entire circuit. It is no secret that it can be a challenging track to photograph, so you have to get creative where possible. This event was also using the national circuit, which removes the 2 slowest corners from the course but that didn’t stop us. it was a perfect excuse to master slow-shutter panning!

Formula 1 Heritage

Historic F1 Cars, Le Mans, Sports Classics and a few more modern GT cars just for good measure, this event truly had it all. I have never been fortunate enough to attend F1 as a photographer, with my only time attending an F1 race was Monaco in 2013, 7 years before I got my first camera…

We unfortunately only had time to attend the Practice and Quali day, on Saturday, but it still gave a full experience of what this event has to offer.

This definitely will be an event that is firmly in my calendar for 2025, and one I would fully recommend to anyone who loves pure, unfiltered motorsport!
