The Multi-Award Winning EV3
Having swept up a multitude of awards already, the Kia EV3 is rapidly becoming regarded as one of the best EV’s available in the market today.
Following on from the EV9, the EV3 is the perfect example of “If it isn’t broke, don’t fix it”. Kia have taken the EV9 and moulded it, into a more affordable and conveniently sized vehicle, much more appropriate for an every-day commute.
Starting with the exterior, the EV3 is overall a very handsome car. Meeting the societal requirements of a Crossover SUV, it is well sized and the proportions are spot-on, with the exterior lighting showing the very unique Kia EV Design Language that we have become accustomed to.
Stepping into the EV3, I instantly felt the improvement in build quality that Kia have made over the past few years, with the interior feeling so much more luxurious and high-end, than the price tag would suggest. Whereas many EV’s available are adapted from an ICE vehicle, the EV3 is designed specifically as an EV. This allows for the removal of a lot of the centre console that gives the driver and front passenger much more leg room, but you still get the cup holders and storage needed in a daily-use vehicle.
Aside from the build quality and aesthetic’s, the ride of the EV3 is absolutely phenomenal. Smooth, silent, sophisticated.
The greatest adaptation of the every-day EV, was the toning down of the throttle response. When the EV first emerged, 0-60 was all that mattered, and in honesty, made for quite a dangerous precedent for the mass consumer market. After all, most people learn to drive in a car that is capable of 0-60 in 8-10 seconds, not 2.5… i always felt that at some point, the reins needed tightening on the acceleration of EV’s, and Kia have managed this to perfection! Pulling away in the EV3 is not a violent action, more refined and calculated, which is a welcome feeling for a vehicle meant for the average consumer.
The EV3 truly didn’t disappoint, on 2 separate road-tests in different locations and conditions, it felt great to drive. Having already seen multiple EV3’s on the road at the start of 2025, I have no doubt that the EV3 will sell extremely well, and feel that the future of the EV arm of Kia will be extremely strong moving forward.
